Weddings

Weddings:

Weddings are occasions of both joy and reverence—joy because of the gifts of love and happiness that the bride and groom have found in each other, and reverence because of the deep commitment they have made to live out their vows under the grace of God.

A wedding at Newtown Square Presbyterian Church is an act of worship. Thus, the wedding service is conducted according to the liturgy found in the Presbyterian Book of Common Worship. The service may include special music, hymns, Scripture readings, and a brief homily by the pastor. Premarital counseling is required.

Funerals/Memorial Services:

Funeral and memorial worship services provide an opportunity for the faith community to proclaim the good news of resurrection, to give thanks for and celebrate the life of the one who has died, and to gather around and console those who mourn.

During the service, the church witnesses to the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit; celebrates and gives thanks for the gift of life and for the gift of life eternal; and comforts those who mourn with the assurance that nothing in all creation, not even death itself, can ever separate us from the love of God.
